Made with local Catawba Valley clay and fired on it’s side twice to build up effects. The first firing was with Matthew Kelly in March of 2025, salt/woodfiring to cone 13. The second firing was during the New England Woodfiring Conference with Trevor Youngberg in June of 2025, woodfired to cone 14+. These layered effects from the two firings become prevalent with the wide array of textures and colors seen on the front face. This clay is unglazed and is rich in iron which makes flowers last longer when displayed, I’ve had flowers last up to 2 weeks longer in the vase!
